Services I have supplied through the company are as follows

Windows to Linux Migration and greenfield setup

Providing advice, configuration and ongoing maintenance with respect to a number of server services, including but not limited to the following:

Email

Email server with IMAP and POP3 connectors to serve Outlook, Outlook Express or any other IMAP/POP3 compatable clients.

Domain Name Services (DNS)

Internal and Internet facing with the widely used BIND DNS server software.

Web Server

Using the Apache server software.

Windows file and print sharing

The Samba software allows Microsoft Windows clients to use file space and printers resident on a Linux or other Unix server.

Firewall

The current production Linux kernel contains a very powerful built in firewall which once set up correctly provides a high degree of protection and detailed intrusion reporting.

DHCP

To configure the IP addresses and other parameters on Windows and Unix/Linux client machines.

System health monitoring

With web and email based alerts.

Web controlled email mailing list

The "Mailman" mailing list management software allows the administrators and moderators a high degree of control over email mailing lists.

Linux Professional Institute

The LPI are an international, vendor neutral certification organisation based in Canada. I qualified to their LPIC level 1 in 2004/Q1 and am now an exam question reviewer. I have also taken part in the development of a set of Open Sourced LPI level 1 and 2 training materials. These materials have now been presented to commercial customers on a number of occasions and have lead to a high percentage of passes. Because the course materials are entirely royalty free, I have a far greater degree of freedom with respect to the structure of LPI based courses. They allow me to offer everything from a conventional block 3-5 day course to ad-hoc, chapter-at-a-time in office training for the smaller company that cannot spare their admins for 3+ days at a time.

Red Hat are one of the top Linux distributions. They started offering Linux training in the UK in mid 1999. They have since moved to bigger premises in Guildford.

I qualified as a Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) version 6.1 in December 1999. Please see online RHCE certificate for confirmation. In May 2000 I qualified as Red Hat Certified Examiner (RHCX) and as such am able to administer the RH302 and RH300 courses and exams, for Red Hat or indeed anyone else.

Development

Since being relieved of contractual copyright issues I have been involved in a number of GPL Open Source projects providing C code and rpm package configuration.

Customised Installation CDs

Providing customised Linux installation disk sets to install specific Linux systems. The customers were then able to build targeted machines simply by booting off the provided CDs.

GSM SMS Cell Broadcast Consultancy

Providing advice and practical assistance in the design configuration and setup of GSM SMS Cell Broadcast Centres (CBC). While I worked for Motorola, I was raporteur for one of the standards documents that specified the protocol between the CBC and the Base Site Controller (BSC).

When working on behalf of a client for a 3rd party, I represent that client. If there are questions, the answers begin with "We". If there are opportunities for further services, such as training or support, these are communicated back to the client. They are not taken on by this company, unless that client gives them to us. It would seem that this is not a common mode of operation.
